FAQs

  • Yes, tons! We give you comprehensive details and data on all applicable services and procedures. You’re also encouraged to take our Online Childbirth Course. Additionally, we’re available to answer any specific questions that may pop up.

  • Home births have been done since the beginning of humanity. For most people, they’re perfectly safe.

As a core part of our service, Hearth and Home conducts ongoing risk assessments to make sure you and your baby are good candidates for home birth before you go into labor.

We offer attentive and thorough pre- and post-natal care for you and your baby, education and expectation setting, and professional childbirth assistance. If concerns about the safety of a home birth arise during the pregnancy, we work with you to appropriately adjust your birth plan.

  • Clients come to us — often for more than just one pregnancy — because they trust us and know we prioritize and are skilled in facilitating natural birth. We strike a balance between trusting birth and your body, and bringing the level of professionalism you want and deserve.

We specialize in providing a full range of holistic, evidence-based, personalized midwifery services. Our focus is informed consent and informed choice, meaning each of our clients is ultimately in control of their own experience. All our midwives are licensed and have extensive training and experience in pregnacy, birth, and postpartum care for mom and baby through six weeks postpartum. Plus, we’re on call 24-7 for those in our care with an urgent need.

The level of safety and professionalism we bring is a major point of pride, but we’re also really proud of the deep and enduring personal connections we build with our clients. (Don’t worry — we have good boundaries!) Because we have high standards and only take a small number of clients each month, we know our clients well and are able to offer excellent care.

  • Your initial consultation — a 30-minute meeting during which you can ask questions and make sure we’re a good fit — is free. We charge a single, up-front, flat fee for our end-to-end midwifery services. Many times, insurance will reimburse some or all of the cost; we’ll review this option with you in your consultation.

Hospitals tend to charge significantly more than we do, often for less personalized and holistic care. With us, you know what you’ll pay in advance and won’t have any new fees after that. You won’t get the shock of a post-care bill.

  • We don’t offer new client discounts. Our services are value-packed and fairly-priced for the level of care you’ll receive.
